A rare Black Gabbro tumblestone with bronze/gold coloured flecks of Bronzite, a variety of Enstatite.
Gabbro is formed when molten magma is trapped beneath the Earth's surface and slowly cools into a holocrystalline mass. Much of the Earth's oceanic crust is made of Gabbro formed at mid ocean ridges. It is a course grained igneous rock found predominantly in black or dark green. It's composition is mainly Plagiocrase Feldspar and Augite and it contains minor amounts of Olivine and Amphibole. Apart from in the deep oceans it is also found in ancient mountain ranges composed of compressed and uplifted oceanic crust.
