A natural piece of Larimar crystal.
Larimar is a uniquely coloured blue-green form of Pectolite that comes only from the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean.
Larimar was first found in 1916 but was not commercially mined until the seventies. Initial deposits were all alluvial washed down the Bahoruco River and found on the coastline but the upstream deposits were soon located and all the Larimar in the world is now found on one mountainside about 6 miles southwest of the city of Barahona.
