A beautiful 925 silver set Gaspeite crystal pendant.

Gaspeite is a member of the Calcite group of minerals.

A solid solution series exists between Gaspeite and Magnesite. In simple terms this means that the two minerals have exactly the same crystalline structure but are different only because of differing numbers of certain ions. At one end of the series Magnesite contains lots of ions of Magnesium and Iron. These can become substituted for those of nickel. When there are more nickel ions than magnesium and iron then you have Gaspeite. It is these nickel ions which give Gaspeite it's beautiful green colour.

Gaspeite was until recently found in only two places, Australia and Canada but new material has now been found in Turkey.
