A small natural cut piece of very rare Tugtupite crystal.
This Tugtupite is from the llimaussaq complex in the south west of Greenland.
Tugtupite is a very rare stone and due to the remote locations and difficulties of mining in Greenland, supplies of all the Greenlandic stones are erratic and will be finite.
No new location for Tugtupite is known presently and all supplies presently available have been collected at mined out sites in previous years.
The name Tugtupite is derived from the Inuit word for reindeer and means 'reindeer blood' possibly because of in it's red form it would look very like drops of blood on snow.
It is a tenebrescent mineral, it's colour being enhanced by being placed under ultraviolet light.
This piece has small areas of red/pink Tugtupite.
The piece you see in the photographs is the one you will receive.
These small natural pieces are an ideal size to hold during meditation or to be used as pocket stones. Carry them in your bag or pocket or place them under your pillow.
Please note that these pieces are not priced according to their weight or size but by the amount and quality of red/pink Tugtupite in the stone. A smaller stone may be priced at more than a stone twice it's size but with less visible Tugtupite.
