Rare polished top piece Fossilised Coral 68g SN40994

Fossilised Coral or Agatized Fossil Coral is formed when coral remains are replaced by Agate, a form of microcrystalline Quartz.

It is a process that can take millions of years and occurs only under very unique geological conditions. It is the skeletons of the coral that are preserved often leaving beautiful flower like patterns in the stone.

Most Fossilised Coral comes from either Indonesia or the US with the Indonesian being considered the most desirable for it's unique detailed patterns.

This piece has just it's top polished with it's underside left natural.

The piece you see in the photographs is the one you will receive. The stand is not included.

This piece is 8.8cm long, 5.4cm wide, 1.4cm thick at it's widest part and weighs 68g.
